# Talking to a Human Teammate

> How Omni hands your chat off to a live human support teammate, and how to switch between them.

Most questions are handled by Omni, Omnivoo's AI assistant. When Omni cannot resolve something, it can bring in a human teammate, right inside the same chat panel. This guide explains how that works.

For everything else Omni can do, see [Meet Omni, Your AI Assistant](/getting-started/omni-ai-assistant).

## When Omni Brings in a Teammate

If Omni cannot answer your question, it suggests connecting you with a person and passes your conversation to our support team. You see a message like "I'm connecting you with a human teammate...", and an information banner appears at the bottom of the chat panel.

Handing off opens a support request with our team, so your question is not lost even if no one is available the moment you ask.

## Switching Between Omni and a Teammate

The banner has a toggle so you are never stuck with one or the other:

* **Talk to a teammate** switches the chat to your human teammate.
* **Back to Omni** switches back to the AI assistant.

The banner text tells you where things stand:

| State | What the banner tells you |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Waiting for the team | Your question has been passed to support, who usually reply within a few hours, and Omni will let you know the moment someone jumps in. |
| A teammate is available | A teammate is available and ready to help. |
| Chatting with a teammate | You are chatting with a teammate. |

## When a Teammate Joins

When a teammate picks up your conversation, you see a note that they **joined the conversation**, and the message box placeholder changes to **Message your teammate...**. Their replies appear as bubbles with a blue avatar, and a typing indicator shows when they are writing.

If your browser tab is hidden when a teammate replies, Omnivoo sends a browser notification so you do not miss it. The first time you are connected to a teammate, your browser asks for permission to show these notifications.

## Your History Is Kept

Your earlier chat with Omni stays in the conversation and is shown to your teammate, so you do not have to repeat yourself. Messages are delivered in real time, with a fallback that makes sure nothing is lost if your connection drops.

## When the Conversation Is Resolved

Once your issue is closed, you see "This conversation was resolved. You can keep chatting with Omni anytime." The chat returns to Omni, and you can ask a new question whenever you need to.
