You can hire an intern through Omnivoo’s Employer of Record service in India, from the same hire wizard you use for a full-time employee. The intern is paid a monthly stipend, signs an internship agreement, and can be made a full-time employee when the internship ends. See Converting an Intern to a Full-Time Employee.

How an Internship Differs

Omnivoo treats interns as professionals, so the stipend has no salary split and no statutory contributions. The stipend is paid in full for each month. Only an internship that ends early is paid for the days worked.

Hiring an Intern

Start a hire from your Home dashboard: click Add people and choose India EOR employee. If this is your first EOR hire, finish the company compliance gate first.
1

Employee info

The same as any hire: first and last name, email, job title, and optionally department and who they report to.
2

Employment

Under Hiring as, choose Intern. The step then asks for:Interns are engaged on Omnivoo’s Maharashtra establishment and work remotely.
3

Stipend

Enter the Monthly stipend in INR. Stipends are entered in INR. If your invoice is in another currency, it’s converted when payroll is approved. The preview shows what they’re paid after the 10% TDS.The PF section, bonuses, the incentive plan and health insurance aren’t offered for an intern. The cost breakdown shows the stipend and Omnivoo’s fee, with no security deposit.
4

Review

Check the details. If you keep them on shows the full-time title and the day it would start. Total cost of the internship covers the whole internship.

What Happens After You Hire

  1. The intern gets a welcome email from Omnivoo and an invitation to set up their account.
  2. They complete onboarding: their IDs, bank account, documents, policies, and the background check consent. See Background Verification.
  3. Their internship agreement is ready to sign once the consent is signed. They sign it first, then Omnivoo countersigns.
  4. They join payroll and are paid the stipend each month, with 10% TDS taken off.

The Intern on Your People Page

An intern shows as EOR intern in People, and as India EOR intern on their page. Their page shows the monthly stipend, what they’re paid after TDS, the internship end date, and the full-time role the agreement offers. Their Payroll tab shows the stipend and its TDS, and Compliance shows that PF and ESI do not apply. While the internship runs, Convert to employee is the main action. Edit employment and Terminate employment are in the menu beside it. Changing the stipend takes effect from the date you pick, and there’s no letter for the intern to sign. Once the internship end date passes, the stipend carries on until you act: convert them to a full-time employee, or end their employment.

What the Intern Sees

The intern’s portal words everything for a stipend. Home, Pay and Payslips show the stipend and the 10% TDS. Tax documents shows the TDS taken by tax year, with no Form 16, since Form 16 is for a salary. There’s no investment declaration, as there’s nothing to declare. Documents holds the signed internship agreement.
